Personalized Support for the College Application Process

During Junior year, I work with students to:
  • Select high school courses, ensuring that both district graduation and college admission requirements are being met
  • Plan and prepare for testing, including the PSAT, PLAN, SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, and Advanced Placement Exams
  • Select summer programs, internships, or other experiences, to advance the student’s areas of interest
  • Facilitate a discussion about budget and the financial support
  • Begin exploring student strengths and how they might lead to possible majors, careers, and campuses
  • Explain the college application and financial aid process
  • Explore possible majors, careers, and campuses
  • Plan college tours, including class visits, overnight hosting, and on-campus admissions interviews
  • Create a student résumé to use for applications and interviews

I work with students and their families during their Senior year to:
  • Ensure that college admission requirements are being met for University of California, California State University, and most Public and Private schools
  • If necessary, plan and prepare for testing, including the SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, and Advanced Placement Exams
  • Plan and prepare the student for college tours, including class visits, overnight hosting, and on-campus admissions interviews
  • Create a comprehensive list of schools including a combination of "reach", "match", and "safety" schools
  • Clearly explain the college application process and provide a timeline for meeting all college and financial aid deadlines
  • Select appropriate people to ask for letters of recommendation
  • Determine if it is appropriate to submit Early Action/Early Decision application(s)
  • Confirm all application deadlines and application components for your final choices
  • Finalize personal and supplemental essays
  • Check college applications for completeness and accuracy
  • Research deadlines for Federal and University Financial Aid (FAFSA and CSS Profile)
  • Apply for merit scholarships, as appropriate
  • Evaluate factors in choosing a school and facilitate the final decision
  • Prepare for the transition between high school and college
